Introducing....

Mimose

We are delighted to introduce to you a brand new friend at Auberge des Vieillards.

Sister Mimose is 55 years old, a widow who suffered a stroke this year while coping with the loss of her husband and the chaos of gang violence in Port au Prince.  It appears that in the confusion of that time, her grown children escaped, but left her behind.  She was brought to Pignon by her sister and her nephew, to be cared for at A des V.

Such circumstances are hard to fathom, and we do not pretend to understand all the factors that contribute to this difficult story.  But we are glad to know that Mimose has been welcomed into a safe place where her physical, emotional and spiritual needs will be tended to.

Also, you may remember the young man named Jean-Richard who suffered a spinal cord injury at the age of 16 and had come under the care of A des V at age 25.  He has been able to find housing and separate support more suitable to his needs, and has moved on to what we hope will be a stronger future for him.  Another resident named Maprina has now returned to the care of her family.

These comings and goings are part of living a dynamic life of serving God in the care of the most vulnerable of His beloveds.  We continue to pray for the senior residents themselves, and all those who care for them.

Plans are underway for Highview's Annual Haiti Dinner and Silent Auction, coming up early in the New Year.  Mark your calendars for Saturday, February 21, 2025 and stay tuned for more details!!!
