The Wednesday update. This was a travel day. Up at 630am. Breaky at 7 and on the road by 810. A 3hr drive to the DR/Haiti border then a switch to another vehicle for a 3+ hour drive to our destination in Lejeune. So we started the day with great roads and an air conditioned mini-van and
Finished the trip in a thunderstorm on gravel/muddy roads and arrived to no electricity or running water - both of which are promised to be fixed for tomorrow. (editors note to the writing critics...that was an intentional run-on sentence for effect).
But all that aside it is marvelous to be here! The warm welcome we received from friends here warms our souls and makes the long trip worthwhile already.
No pics tonight as the coverage is weak (EDGE for my BlackBerry friends) and my Q10 doesn't downsize the pics from my Q10 camera.
It was a rainy evening so the crew went another round of cut throat euchre. One small benefit of the all guy team this year is the high tolerance for disarray (ie mess). Definitely a man-cave feel to our home away from home.
All is well. Looking forward to a good sleep.
